Package design is more than just slapping a logo on a box or wrapper. POS design should enhance your brand. Every step in the design process, from initial concept mockups to final production layouts should be carefully coordinated with your package manufacturers and printers to ensure a perfect fit for your product. Big box stores are notorious for having very specific design rules that you must adhere to to get access to shelf space.

Your print Design Includes

Print projects are designed in vector format with Adobe Illustrator to ensure all detail stays sharp and scaleable from postage stamp size to billboard size.

Projects that include enhanced photos, graphics and text are designed in Adobe Photoshop and delivered as 300 or 350 ppi hi res files.

• All text is delivered converted to out lines.

• Print files are delivered in the correct size specified for your project

• All image files are embedded correctly so nothing goes missing.

• Finished art is delivered in .AI (Illustrator), EPS and PDF formats.

Your Package Design Includes

All package design projects include research of shelf size requirements from the stores that will be selling your products.

• Define the project: Set goals, target audience, brand rules, and legal text requirements.

• Get the dieline: Obtain the printer's flat template (dieline) showing cut lines, folds, and safe zones.

• Build concepts: Sketch and arrange brand logos, imagery, and information hierarchy (what the customer sees first).

• Use CMYK/Pantone: Set the document color mode to CMYK or specific spot colors, avoiding RGB which shifts during printing.

• Apply bleeds: Extend background colors and images past the cut lines (usually 3 mm or 0.125 inches) to prevent white edges.

• Set high-resolution images: Keep all graphics and photos at a minimum of 300 DPI at actual print size.

Finalization and Prepress

• Outline text: Convert all font layers into vector outlines so text does not change or disappear on another computer.

• Embed assets: Embed all linked pictures and clean up unused layers or hidden elements.
